The Trouble Team
Some boys need more than a camp. They need someone who keeps calling when nobody else does. That is what our outreach work is for — reaching young men who are struggling and bringing them back into something good.
How it works
Reaching the boys who need us most
Outreach is not a separate charity program bolted onto the camp. It is how boys get in and how they stay.
We notice
A boy stops showing up, or a family reaches out to us. Either way, it starts with someone paying attention instead of letting him disappear.
We show up
A familiar adult connects with him and with his family, in his neighborhood, on his terms. No lecture. A conversation.
We bring him back in
He rejoins the group — sports, activities, the self-control sessions — with a mentor who already knows his name and his situation.
We stay with him
Through the season and past it. The point is not a single camp week; it is a young man who knows there is somebody in his corner.
No boy is a lost cause
If you know a young man in New Haven who could use this — a son, a grandson, a nephew, a kid on your block — call us. We would rather hear about him early than hear about him on the news.
